Public awareness regarding the production of harmful factors, which are affecting the environment, is growing. This can be seen from the efforts taken by manufacturers of radiators, everyday products, and lighting, which propose more sustainable solutions minimising the harmful effects and emissions of chemical elements into the atmosphere. A concrete example are the activities of the AQForm brand, which, amongst others, is offering energy-efficient LED lighting.

Caring for the environment

There are many activities that can be undertaken to protect the environment. Often, good-will is enough to introduce greener habits into everyday activities. These include, for example, turning off the water while brushing your teeth or doing the washing up, less frequent use of the car in favour of walks and riding a bike, buying products in glass instead of plastic packaging and segregating rubbish.

Of course, beyond segregation, general minimisation of waste production and designing reusable objects that can easily be used for many years are crucial. When making purchasing decisions, we can also contribute to environmentally friendly behaviour. For example, when going to a café and choosing take-out coffee, one can take his own thermal mug not to use a paper one, and for example, when choosing lighting − opt for a more energy-saving solution. How do producers of electronics, heating or lighting systems support us in maintaining environmentally friendly habits?

Green solutions on the market

It is not easy to take care of the environment while being flooded with equipment consuming a lot of energy. Fortunately, social responsibility is becoming more and more common and we see an increase in the number of products that are more environmentally friendly, and it is only up to us whether we will take such products home. There are heating systems available on the market based on condensation technology or obtaining heat from renewable sources, and lighting manufacturers have long been presenting a wide range of LED lighting that uses far less energy compared to traditional light bulbs. This type of lighting is characterised by an extended life cycle, lower power consumption and lower operating temperature.

Lighting friendly to the planet

AQForm offers a number of environmentally friendly lighting fittings. “PET next lighting cares about both the user and the environment. Thanks to hybrid optics and an enlarged protection angle, the lighting fixture minimises the unpleasant glare effect and is more efficient. PET next reaches 100 lm/W with no compromises in light quality. The DALI versions provide additional possibilities for savings. Automatic lighting control allows you to reduce energy consumption anywhere from 10-20% up to even 80%” − says AQForm marketing manager Barbara Olesiak-Kasparek.

Lighting products characterised by increased efficiency also include the MODERN BALL model from AQForm in which a single module emits nearly 1000 lumens with only 9W source power and SQUARES next, which is distinguished by higher light quality thanks to DC power supply. The smallest LED lighting fixture in the brand’s portfolio is only 5x5cm, and a set of three such small points is enough for functional lighting of 1m² of the floor.

Reducing energy consumption by choosing energy-saving lighting is a big step towards caring for the planet. Pollution associated with electricity production is significant. As it turns out, not only does it negatively affect the environment, but also human health and well-being. Light pollution consists of light smog or, for example, the glare effect causing discomfort to interior users. Therefore, lighting manufacturers have a large impact on reducing the negative side-effects of its use, but it is up to us to decide whether or not we opt for more environmentally friendly solutions.
